In this recipe, I will be sharing the baked lasagna very close to my family. We make this lasagna every year, especially during the holiday season. Steps
[pasta]
- Boil water and cook the lasagna (lasgne) pasta as directed in the box
- Drain water, coat the pasta with oil and set the pasta aside
[white sauce]
- Heat up the pan (medium-low heat)
- Add the butter and melt it
- Add the all purpose flour and incorporate with the butter
- Add the milk little by little until the flour mixture dissolves (you can use whisk to dissolve it quicker)
- Once all incorporated, adjust the consistency by adding some water. You want to achieve not too thick consistency
- Add cheddar and parmesan cheese,
- Add salt and pepper
- Add basil
- Continue stirring
- Set aside
[red sauce]
- Saute onion and garlic
- Add ground beef
- Add salt and pepper and continue to saute until the ground beef is cooked
Note: If your ground beef is too oily, remove the excess oil
- Add crushed red pepper (optional) and Italian Seasoning
- Add tomato sauce
- Add sugar
- Medium-high to bring it to boil
- Once boiling, adjust the heat to low and continue simmering for 45 minutes. Make sure to stir occasionally to avoid burning the bottom
- Turn off heat and cool it down

- Add the pasta on the bottom
- Add red sauce and some white sauce
- Add some cheese
- Repeat the same process to build up the layers in order of pasta, red/white sauce then cheese
- After you made 3 to 4 layers, cover with foil and put in the fridge for few hours to overnight
[bake]
- Preheat to 350F
- Bake for 18 minutes
- After baking, remove the foil cover
- Broil (450F) for 15 minutes or until the cheese is brown
