How to Make Maja Blanca Recipe | Easy & Creamy Filipino Dessert Recipe

About this recipe

The Sweet Embrace of Maja Blanca

Have you ever encountered a dessert so ethereally smooth, it seems to melt on your tongue? That’s the magic of Maja Blanca, a quintessential Filipino dessert that embodies comfort and celebration. This delectable treat, with its velvety texture and subtly sweet flavor profile, has earned a cherished spot at Filipino gatherings and family tables for generations.

At its core, Maja Blanca is a harmonious blend of simple yet transformative ingredients. The foundation of this confectionary masterpiece is coconut milk, lending a rich, tropical creaminess that defines its character. This is often complemented by the gentle sweetness of milk, which adds depth and balance to the overall taste. The inclusion of corn, in the form of kernels and cornstarch, provides a subtle textural counterpoint, a gentle chewiness amidst the smooth, almost pudding-like consistency. It’s this unique interplay of textures that elevates Maja Blanca beyond a simple sweet treat.

This popular dessert is often served chilled, further enhancing its refreshing qualities, particularly welcome in the tropical climate of the Philippines. Garnishes, such as toasted coconut flakes or latik (coconut curds), can add a touch of visual flair and an extra layer of flavor. It’s a true testament to the power of simple ingredients, transformed into something truly extraordinary.
