How to Make Japanese Beef Curry Rice Recipe using Instant Pot

Curry Rice is a very famous comfort food in Japan. To get the tenderness of meat, I will be using Instant Pot. It is quicker yet meats are super tender.

Ingredients:

2lb beef meat

10 pcs baby carrots

4 russell potatoes

1/2 to 1 whole onion

1 box of curry roux / sauce mix
(https://amzn.to/2QPDiLg )

1 tsp honey

1 tsp yogurt or sour cream

6 cups water

Steps:

1. Chop the carrots, potatoes in dice

2. Slice onions thinly

3. Chop the meat in dice

4. Set to Saute mode

5. Put the beef in the pot

6. Add water to cover enough the meat

7. Bring to a boil (bring out the scum)

8. Press Cancel on the Instant Pot

8. Discard the water and rinse the meat

9. Set aside the meat

10. Set to Saute mode

11. Add cooking oil

12. Add onions in the pot and saute it

13. Put back the meat in the pot

14. Continue to saute, add a pinch of salt and pepper 

15. Add 6 cups of water

16. Add 2 cubes of Curry roux

17. Put the lid on

18. Set to Meat/Stew and cook for 25 minutes

Note: depending on the cut of the meat, if bigger chunk, set the cooking time to 30 minutes.

19. Once time is up, press cancel, release the pressure

20. Set to Saute mode to keep the pot boiling

21. Add potatoes and carrots. Let the potatoes and carrots cook

22. Add the remaining curry roux, stir to dissolve the roux

23. Serve it
