If you were living in the Philippines, you might have seen orange coated munchkins at Dunkin Donuts. It is called Choco Butternut Munchkins which is a chocolate munchkins coated with desiccated coconut. I love the combination of the texture of coconut as well as the chocolate flavor munchkins. In this recipe, to make it easier to make, I made chocolate crinkles and coated with butternut. Steps
[butternut]
- Add desiccated coconut in the food processor
- Add half amount of All Purpose Flour in the food processor and mix
- Add the rest of all purpose flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and mix well
- Add butter and mix
- Add the orange food coloring (adjust the color as desired)
- Set aside
[chocolate dough]
- Sift all purpose flour and baking powder, set aside
- On a separate bowl, add sugar, cocoa powder (sifted)
- Add Canola Oil, Vanilla Extract, Instant Coffee, Salt, mix well until sugar is dissolved
- Add egg one at a time while mixing
- Chill the choco dough in the fridge for 30 minutes or so
[assembly]
- Shape the choco dough into a small ball
- Coat with butternut
[baking]
- Preheat oven to 350F
- Bake it for 10 -12 minutes or until you get the texture you desired
