Puto Bumbong is a Filipino purple rice cake. Traditionally, it is cooked in bamboo tubes and known as Chrismas season Filipino delicacy. In this recipe, I achieved the authentic taste and texture of Puto Bumbong using home steamer and you don’t need to have a bamboo steamer. My recipe is easy to follow so that you can enjoy this delicious Puto Bumbong at home! Happy holidays everyone!

Ingredients
- 1 and 1/2 cup Black Rice – https://amzn.to/2WmtFam

- 2 cup Glutinous Rice Flour – https://amzn.to/3nurdKB

Steps
- Soak the black rice and sweet rice for 2 days in the water
- Drain water and grind the rice until
- Transfer the ground rice to a bowl and combine it with glutinous rice flour until you achieve the clay-like texture. Adjust the consistency by adding glutinous rice flour if the mixture is too wet.
- Once the mixture is clay-like, grate it using a cheese grater
- Shape the grated mixture into a log shape
- Set up a steamer with boiling water
- Prepare a tray and line with foil
- Grease the foil with butter
- Place the Puto Bumbong mixture on top the lined foil and place it a steamer and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until you reach the cooked sticky rice texture
- Top with brown sugar and freshly granted coconut
- Serve it!
