How to Make Chinese Style Steamed Fish (Red Snapper) Recipe using Instant Pot

Ingredients

Serves 2 to 3

[for marinade]

[for the topping sauce]

[for the dipping sauce]

Note: adjust the amount as you desired


Steps

[marination]

  1. Scale, gut, and clean the fish.
  2. Pat dry with a paper towel.
  3. Score both sides of the fish.
  4. Stuff in the ginger and green onion.
  5. Make marinade sauce (fish sauce, Chinese Rice Cooking Wine, pepper)
  6. Marinate fish on both sides for a total of 15 to 20 minutes. 

[steaming]

  1. Add 1 cup of water to the Instant Pot.
  2. Place the steaming rack in the Instant Pot.
  3. Place banana leave.
  4. Place ginger and green onion.
  5. Place the fish and place ginger on top of the fish.
  6. Put the lid on and close it.
  7. Press STEAM.
  8. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes.
  9. Once fish is cooked, transfer the fish to a plate.
  10. Remove the ginger on top of the fish.
  11. Place green onion and ginger on top.
  12. Set aside.

[topping sauce]

  1. Heat up the pan.
  2. Add cooking oil,
  3. Saute ginger.
  4. Add sesame oil, soy sauce, Chinese rice cooking wine.
  5. Remove from the heat.
  6. Pour the topping sauce on top of the fish while the sauce is hot. 

[dipping sauce]

  1. Add soy sauce, green onion, ginger, cilantro, and vinegar.
  2. Use the dipping sauce as you desired.
