Gravy-Sauce

How to Make Simple Gravy Recipe without Drippings!

About:

Gravy sauce is a savory sauce made from the drippings and juices of cooked meat, poultry, or fish. It is typically thickened with flour or cornstarch, and may also include seasonings such as salt, pepper, herbs, and spices. Gravy is a popular condiment for many dishes, including mashed potatoes, roast meats, and poultry.

With that note, I created a gravy sauce in this recipe without needing the drippings or juices from the cooked meat. This method of gravy will become handy if you just want to pair it with mashed potato. Even though this recipe does not have drippings, it is tasty and delicious.

Below is the history and types of gravy sauce.

Gravy has been around for centuries, and its origins can be traced back to ancient Greece and Rome. It was originally made by collecting the juices from cooking meat and then thickening them with bread crumbs or flour. Gravy became more popular in the Middle Ages, when it was used to add flavor and moisture to dry meats and vegetables.

Types of gravy

There are many different types of gravy, each with its own unique flavor and texture. Some of the most common types of gravy include:

  • Brown gravy: Brown gravy is the most common type of gravy, and is typically made from the drippings of roasted meats or poultry. It is thickened with flour or cornstarch, and may also include seasonings such as salt, pepper, herbs, and spices.
  • White gravy: White gravy is made from the drippings of cooked chicken or turkey, and is thickened with flour or cornstarch. It is often made with milk or cream, which gives it a richer flavor and creamier texture.
  • Country gravy: Country gravy is a hearty gravy made with sausage, onions, and flour. It is often served with biscuits or toast.
  • Mushroom gravy: Mushroom gravy is a flavorful gravy made with mushrooms, butter, and flour. It is often served with steak or other roasted meats.
