How to Make Munggo (Mung Bean) Soup Recipe using Instant Pot

Ginisang munggo is a Filipino savory mung bean soup. It is made with mung beans, garlic, tomatoes, onions, various vegetables, and patis (fish sauce). It is cooked with pork, tinapa (smoked fish), daing (dried fish), or other seafood and meat. Ingredients can be modified depending on your preferences. In this recipe, make the very simple version of Mung Bean Soup using Instant Pot. It is very simple and easy to make.

Ingredients


Steps

  1. Soak the beans in water overnight
  2. Set the Instant Pot to Saute Mode.
  3. Select More (High Heat)
  4. Put Cooking Oil
  5. Cook the Pork Belly thoroughly
  6. Add Salt and Pepper 
  7. Once Pork Belly is cooked, set it aside
  8. Add Garlic, Onions in the pot and saute
  9. Add Tomatoes
  10. Put the Mungo Beans
  11. Put back the Pork
  12. Add remaining Salt and Pepper
  13. Add Pork Cube
  14. Add Fish Sauce
  15. Give a stir
  16. Add water until it reaches the 8 cup line
  17. Stir once again
  18. Press Cancel, put the lid on
  19. Set to Bean / Chili mode and cook for 40 minutes
  20. After 40 minutes of cooking depressurize and mix (you can add some water to adjust the thickness of the soup)
  21. Add Malunggay (horseradish tree leaves) and give a light stir
  22. Serve it!
