How to make Crispy Air Fried Pork Belly using Air Fryer Recipe

Filipino Crispy Pork Belly or Lechon Kawali is typically deep-fried in a pan or wok. It is a very crunchy and delicious pork dish. The crunchy skin is its trademark. Most of us know that you can get this crunchiness by deep frying in the oil. However, using Air Fryer, you can achieve the if not the same, similar crunchiness. In this recipe, we will be using Air Fryer, in this way, we don’t use much oil as traditional Lechon Kawali yet, you get the same delightfulness of eating the Lechon Kawali. I hope you get to try out this Crispy Air Fried Pork Belly using Air Fryer which so easy to cook and easy to clean up.

Ingredients

Note: Adjust the seasoning more or less depending on your taste preferences

Steps

[boiling]

  1. Add the pork belly in the pot together with other ingredients
  2. Add water until pork is fully soaked
  3. Bring it to a boil
  4. Once boiled, lower the heat and continue to simmer for about 20 minutes or until the pork is tender
  5. Remove the pork from the pot and transfer into a tray to dry it and cool it overnight

  1. Prepare the pork (ideally it set to room temperature before air frying)
  2. Prepare Air Fryer (I’m using Philips Air Fryer XXL)
  3. Set the temperature to 350F (no preheating needed)
  4. Set timer for 60 minutes
  5. On the halfway (after 30 minutes of cooking), pause the cooking by pressing the middle button
  6. Pat down the pork to remove excess oil using a paper towel
  7. After 30 minutes of air frying, check the crispiness of the skin, if not crunchy, continue air frying for an additional 20 minutes or until the skin is crispy

  1. Toss all the dipping sauce ingredients
  2. Adjust the amount based on your taste preferences
