Agedashi Tofu (Japanese Style Fried Tofu) Recipe using Air Fryer

About:  

Agedashi Tofu is a Japanese appetizer served with dashi sauce. Agedashi Tofu is traditionally deep fried in oil. In this recipe, Air Fryer will be used, it will be healthier since less oil is used when air frying the tofu.

Ingredients

Steps

  1. Add hondashi (fish broth powder), soy sauce and mirin in the water
  2. Bring dashi sauce to boil (add sugar to adjust the sweetness of the sauce)
  3. Once boiled, turn off the heat and set it aside

[tofu]

  1. Slice the tofu in cubes and cover with paper towel to remove the moisture
    Note: cover it for over 20 minutes
  2. Grate radish and set aside
  3. Grate ginger and set aside
  4. Pat dry the tofu and thinly coat with potato starch
  5. Spray cooking oil in the air fryer tray and place the tofu (coated with starch)
  6. Set the Air Fryer to 375F and air fry it for 18 minutes
  7. Place the tofu in the plate and add the dashi sauce
  8. Topping with grated radish and grated ginger
  9. Add bonito flakes on top
  10. Serve it!
