How to make Beef Sinigang using Instant Pot Recipe

Sinigang is a Filipino soup or stew characterized by its sour and savory taste. It is most often associated with tamarind (Filipino: sampalok), although it can use other sour fruits and leaves as the souring agent. It is one of the more popular dishes in Filipino cuisine.

Sinigang has different varieties of main ingredients such as pork, shrimp, fish, etc. In this recipe, we will be using Beef Short Ribs to bring out the beef broth and sourness of tamarind. We will be using Instant Pot to cook the delicious sinigang in a short period of time.

Instant Pot Duo Plus 9-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker

Ingredients

Notes: 

  • The amount of the veggies is up to you. You can adjust the amount based on your preferences.
  • Adjust the amount of Tamarind Soup Mix based on your sour preferences

Steps

  1. Chop veggies into small pieces
  2. Put the beef short ribs in the Instant Pot
  3. Add water, about 8 cups or until the meat is soaked
  4. Set the Instant Pot to saute mode and bring it to boil
  5. Boil it for 5-10 minutes or until the scum is out from the meat
  6. Discard the water and rinse the meat
  7. Put back the meat in the Instant Pot
  8. Add Radish, Taro, Onion and Tomato
  9. Fill with water and add salt
  10. Put the lid on and close
  11. Set to Pressure Cook, Custom
  12. Cook for 35 minutes and keep warm for about 10 minutes
  13. Depressurize the Instant Pot
  14. Mash some of the taro
  15. Set to Saute mode and bring it to boil
  16. Add Eggplant, Okra
  17. Add Tamarind Soup Mix
  18. Add Fish Sauce to adjust the taste
  19. Add Spinach
  20. Serve it
